Here you will find not only the big bands of the swing era but also orchestras from the bebop era and beyond- eg Dizzy Gillespie, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Akiyoshi-Tabackin and the Vienna Art Orchestra. The earliest big bands you'll find in the early jazz section (if only to annoy New Orleans purists.)

Ellington, Basie, Goodman & Shaw small groups can be found in the mainstream section.
